Agreed...not sure why it can't work. I see what I believe to be other Wordpress blogs using scribd, edocr, or docstoc embedded files but I can't seem to get it to work.

Thx

This is a n00b question: Cannot the theme-editor.php page be password protected so that only someone logged in as the site admin has access to it? An integrated theme-editor is the number one thing I miss in WPMu.

Well if you make a plugin it could be activated on per blog basis. But You know the best what you're after. Good luck. If I find some more useful info I'll post it here. Cheers.

I'm on a resell acct and wildcards were already set.
No contact with HG needed.
Are you on a single shared hosting acct? Not sure if that is set the same.
I got the same error when I already had my second domain set up in the WHM panel. I deleted it and everything was sweet.
I just entered the * in the subdomain (nothing else) and it all worked.
Not sure why your getting an error with *.liphapha.com when all you need to try is entering * in the box (no liphapha).
Suggest you try HG forums if you are still having probs.

http://forums.hostgator.com/wildcard-subdomains-t36638.html?t=36638&highlight=httpd.conf

A note about using this (fantastic) plugin with BuddyPress: BuddyPress changes the Settings menus and introduces a third level of navigation so this plugin doesn't work properly.

Also, the Delete Blog menu gets disabled, no matter what. I'm aware it states that in the comment at the beginning but the reason it's disabled is that when the plugins_loaded action is executed, the $current_user variable is undefined so, the logic in the function doesn't work (even when I tried to override it as using is_site_admin() doesn't work). I simply moved the action to _admin_menu instead...

You can add this to the firsts lines (about 16):

require("../../../wp-blog-header.php");

if( !defined( "BLOGUPLOADDIR" ) )

And then...
use

$src = BLOGUPLOADDIR . str_replace( '..', '', $src );

Hi!

I need to modify the 'contributor' permissions to allow them to create new pages, in addition to posts for review, and allow them to upload files.

right now, contributors can only
1. Create new post and submit for review
2. Manage previous posts

I need them to be able to:

1. Create new posts and pages for submission for review.
2. Manage all posts and pages as well as the ability to upload files.

How can I go about doing this?

I'm using the list_all_themes plugin from WPMUDEV.

I'm been able to write a Page that calls up a list, but no screen shot and no descriptions of the themes that are listed. And I would like to block themes that are not approved and available for use.

This is the php call I am using on the Page template:

<?php list_all_wpmu_themes(); ?>

I cannot find any instructions on how to configure it.

I got to the point where I was asked to map the files to a user and I chose admin. I chose to NOT upload the attached files.

I kept getting a 500 Internal Server Error message.

So I reset the max execution time to 3000.

Same thing.

I'll let my host know. Any advice?

Hi, I'm using the AdSense manager plugin to manage the ads on the site I'm working on. I've installed it as a normal WP plugin under /plugins (not mu-plugins/). It works fine for the main site blog, obviously, but I would like to set it up so the the site admin can load up the ads and get them to display on predefined places in all the user blogs without the users having any control over it.

The plugin auto-creates a widget for each ad that is put in so on the main theme, I use the widgets to display ads. However, what approach should I take to retrieve the ads for the member blogs which use 2 different themes. I haven't looked at this closely yet, but can I somehow in my member blog themes retrieve certain ads that have been created by this plugin on the main blog?

Thanks for any suggestions.

No built in functions per posts, AFAIK. Post Views should work out of the plugins folder.

It will not count with WP Super Cache though. So if you use that, you might have to look at WP.com stats + WP.com popular posts.

For anybody else who couldn't figure it out - most VPS servers have the wildcard serveralias already built in for security reasons. If you're using plesk, and you've added your additional A Name DNS wildcard record already but it still doesn't work its because you need to set your default domain of the VPS IP to whatever your blog site is.

If the header images don't show, you may have to replace, in bfa_rotating_header_images.php, 2 times, in lines 12 and 18

get_option('upload_path')

with

ABSPATH . get_option('upload_path')

On my WPMU 2.6 install it works either way but the second version is the one that should work everywhere. That fix will be included in the next release of the theme.

Hello,

I’m dying to get this timthumb image resizer to work, I’m using WPMU and it isn’t liking it for some reason. I’ve followed everything step by step, but it never generates an image. I’m assuming it has something to do with the way WPMU configured my .htaccess file. Anyway, http://sheaallen.com/wp-content/themes/arthemia/scripts/timthumb.php?src=files/2008/08/143014w_sm.gif&w=300&h=275&zc=1&q=100

My .htaccess file contains the following three lines which I think may be throwing it off:

#uploaded files
RewriteRule ^(.*/)?files/$ index.php [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !.*wp-content/plugins.*
RewriteRule ^(.*/)?files/(.*) wp-content/blogs.php?file=$2 [L]

If I move both the timthumb.php file AND the sample.gif out of the main wordpress folder, then it works no problem. Any suggestions?
http://www.sheaallen.com/timthumb.php?src=sample.gif&h=300&w=275&zc=1

You may have to recheck your buddypress installation. I had the same problem. First I had to enable the Plugins Option. Then, I copied the buddypress plugin (bp-core and bp-core.php) to the mu-plugins folder. I was thrown off at first because the core files are deep in the directory of the unzip buddypress core file.

I hope this helps you out.

Oh wait. Do I have to have the users as members of the mu blog itself before I can assign blog posts to them? I was under the impression that I would be able to import their blogs to their username on their own individual blogs, but since I'm the only member of the mu blog, apparently, and I'm the only person I can choose to assign blog posts....

Just FYI: A VPS usually stands for "virtual private server", meaning you have your own environment within an actual server that is independent of all the other people on it. If you really do have a VPS, your IP is a dedicated one in most cases and you should be able to do this all yourself. All that is left to do is add the ServerAlias to apache. Don't ask how to do that as this isn't a hand holding forum.
