Everything seems to be working except when I try to preview a theme (in the "appearance" section) I only see the image of the current theme in the preview window. Interestingly enough, the "Activate" link lists the real name of the theme I requested a preview of. This is not a case of the theme name. And, yes, all the themes are at the root level of the theme folder /wp-content/theme/ Any words of advice? I'm scratching my head. I am creating a professional looking site, that I would like to link and/or incorporate features of buddypress community. That being said do I install and activate a wordpress theme (such as Ines that is set up to have buddypress widgets) and still bring over the default buddypress theme and activate that as well? Then how do they link together? I guess what I am asking are these two different entities. I also need to have the ability to customize a little -- without knowing any PHP coding. Can you give me an example? " Yep, that's exactly what I mean, or it won't find the copy you're working on. Theme Name: Thesis2 or even ThesisEvents. Doesn't matter, just something to distinguish it from the previous copy. I came across that calendar plugin, but haven't tried it. I will definitely do so; I think I've made some progress, so I want to see if I can make it work this way first though. I am reading about it and may very well end up with wpcal. In the meantime, at like 2 a.m. last night I made a change to get the custom fields to display like an event listing. Now, this may not be the greatest way. If it's horrible please smack me aside the head, I'd like to learn correctly. In Thesis's loop.php, inside the post loop, I added a hook thesis_hook_inside_post($post_count). Then, in my custom_functions.php, I created a new function and assigned it to that hook. So, I've got WPMU running, and the Thesis theme across the site. Basically, I use blogs as things other than, well, blogs. This website is for a city. <a href="http://elp.metalcast.net/events/" rel="nofollow">http://elp.metalcast.net/events/</a> The events directory is a blog. The city people need to be able to add events, so I'm making each event a post, as you can see. Each event also has some custom fields attached to it. event_month, event_day, event_sponsor, things like that. My ish is this: On this events main front, I'd like to be able to display the posts in the feed, but also display a few of their custom fields, which have specific event place / time data. I originally tried to set a static page with a custom function in Thesis as the "home page" of this directory, but it was showing the empty "page" content of the fake homepage rather than a list of posts. I know how to run a $wpmu mysql query to pull posts if I want, but I don't see the custom_fields anywhere in the tables in phpMyAdmin, though I could be overlooking them. It also seems as if, even if I assign a separate installation of Thesis (directory name changed in wp-content/themes/ to something else) and write some custom functions in there and try to assign them, that the /events/ sub-blog of the main WPMU site still defaults to picking up the custom_functions.php file from the main site. I was thinking I could edit "The Loop" in the Events install of Thesis to include displaying the custom_fields, but I can't get that install to take precedence over the main WPMU theme install for some reason. I'm confused as to that, as well. Should this be it's own blog? Or should I be structuring this differently? I've tried even more than I'm saying, but I just am really at a loss. If anyone could point me conceptually in the right direction, it'd be much appreciated. Did I mention it's FREE? There's a bunch of extra classes around those areas that are undeclared, so you won't find them as they aren't there. Just add them to your new theme's style sheets. We're running Word Press Mu and Buddy Press and we are working on changing the default theme.(for buddy press) For some reason we can't find the css file for the widgets that are placed on the home page. These are widgets that are done through the admin panel.
