Have previous upgrades worked or is this the first time you've run it on this host? It sounds like it might be a php configuration issue with your host.

That error means the blog is *partially* created. It's listed in a couple database table,s but didn't create the blog specific tables.

Now I can;t say for sure what's wrong since you stated

"I was working within the admin of my mu installation trying to set up a new blog at a school that I work at. I believe that there was some sort of spyware on the computer and every time that I would try to submit the blog setup it would redirect the page to a search of some sort."

hard to say. I'd try another computer first. make another test blog from the backend and see if that works.

I am having a HUGE issue. Anyone that can help me it would be really appreciated.

I was working within the admin of my mu installation trying to set up a new blog at a school that I work at. I believe that there was some sort of spyware on the computer and every time that I would try to submit the blog setup it would redirect the page to a search of some sort.

I went to another computer in the lab. When I tried to create the blog there it said that it was already created. So then when I went to look at the blogs listed in admin it was not there.

I went directly into the users section of the blog and to the user that I wanted to access this blog. I tried to manually change the blog she had access to from teenmomshoutout.org/ to teenmomshoutout.org/roshunda

Now I believe that it is all redirecting the main URL to this URL that doesn't exist. I am getting a fatal error as follows:

Fatal Error
If your blog does not display, please contact the owner of this site.

If you are the owner of this site please check that MySQL is running properly and all tables are error free.

Could Not Find Blog!
Searched for teenmomshoutout.org/ in tmsmu::wp_blogs table. Is that right?

I need desperate help from anyone that can help me! Feel free to contact me offlist too if you feel like you can help me!!! rene.edde@gmail.com

Ok, I finally got this issue fixed. Since I spent a whole day trying to get this resolved, I'm going to post the solution that finally worked for me.

Since some of the forum posts mentioned something about their host being involved, I decided to contact my host and see if they could figure it out and they did. I asked for details about what they changed so I could post it for other users.

Here is what they said:

"Modsecurity was blocking the useragent of the flash uploader. This is common. I disabled the block."

When I asked for more details about where exactly they made this change, they said:

"I simply removed the useragent block in /usr/local/apache/conf/modsec2.user.conf"

Hopefully someone else will find this useful.

Try upgrading the version of Flash installed on your computer. That was the root cause of this problem awhile back. Something Adobe did broke things like the Flash uploader in WordPress.

Hi, I know this is an old post, but I'm having about the same issue in WordPress-MU Version 2.8.5.2, with BuddyPress.

When I use the Flash uploader, it does the crunching thing, which goes to 100%, then I get "HTTP error" in red.

I've tried the Browser uploader and it works fine. So it's only the Flash uploader that's doing this.

I've tested in a few different browsers Firefox 2 & 3 and IE 8 and it's the same for all of them.

I'm glad the browser uploader works since at least there is some way to upload images, but I don't know why the Flash uploader wouldn't be working. It's inevitably going to create support issues if I can't get this fixed.

Any ideas what's up with that and how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance!

ok I fixed this problem

To resolve this issue do a search in your "db" for the "path /cgi-system/" i'm running wordpress mu in a sub folder so i'm not sure if the same applies if you're running in the root dir. Basically if you want your wordpress mu to appear as http://www.yourdomain.com/blahogs/ you'll need to change everywhere in the db that has /cgi-system/ to /blahogs/

it worked for me

ps. make sure you change it in wp-config.php file as well.

$base = '/cgi-system/';
to
$base = '/blahogs/';

also if you are using dreamhost and wordpress mu is point you to cgi-system still you can resolve the issue by visiting this forum:
http://mu.wordpress.org/forums/topic/4605?replies=7

Yeah, which does work, the reason I liked the other method was the fact that it returned the user to the plugins page instead of simply halting their progress completely.

wp_die() does the trick though and until I can turn up a better method I'll stick with that, thanks tmoorewp!

I added a version comparison to my plugin in order to trigger an error on activation if the end user doesn't have PHP 5 or above installed. The problem is that even though it triggers the error and Wordpress informs me that it cannot activate the plugin due to a fatal error, it's still activating the plugin.

That, of course, is exactly the opposite of what I want happening.

The activation callback does a simple check,

if ( version_compare( phpversion(), '5.0', '<' ) )
	trigger_error('', E_USER_ERROR);

The code that error_scrape gets looks like the following,

if ( $_GET['action'] == 'error_scrape' )
    die( 'Message omitted for clarity' );

Yet the plugin still activates. Bad plugin, bad.

The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function...

I've gone through the other forums and can't seem to get this to work. I just set up wpmu for the first time on my local machine (Mac OS 10.4). Most of the forums seem to be about similar problems on windows installs or goddady hosted installs, but the solutions to those installs haven't worked for me.

One thing I did notice in another forum, and which may be the root cause, is that typing this:

mail -s "Testing Email from
hostname
" <youremailaddress>

simply hangs and I have to kill it. Does this mean I just need to set up a mail server on my mac? In which case, this guy's probably got me covered -- http://technosailor.com/2006/10/25/how-to-configure-your-mac-to-send-mail-regardless-of-where-you-are/ ? Anything else I should be paying attention to? Forgive me if this is entirely obvious, but I'm still a bit of a newbie.

In BP 1.1.2 and WPMU 2.8.4 (latest), there is bug where any previously created blogs set up before Buddypress was installed will be ignored by BP.

On the /members/username/blogs list it will say:

'hasn't created any public blogs yet'

However ... the blog and posts on it WILL show up elsewhere.

Everything else works ... I have tried activating and deactiving BP. I have tried toggling privacy. Nothing seems to work.

Could anyone point out which tables in the database have to be manually edited in order to fix this?

Config as follows:

MySql version 5.0.85-community
Apache version 2.2.14
PHP version 5.2.11

more details at http://methodsofhealing.com/phpinfo.php

According to my support, php.ini file memory limit is set to 150MB.

I am running WPMU version 2.8.4a fresh install - put it up yesterday.

I did copy the database from my old host, onto this new install if that makes a difference.

MU Plugins: Plugin Commander, Cets blog Defaults, and RA remove blog offset.

Regular WP Plugs include: ad minister, adsense manager, AIO SEO pack, featured content gallery, page link manager, redirection, seo automatic links, sitemapXml, smart video, sociable, ultimate google analytics and limit posts.

When I look at my dashboard: In the 'incoming links', 'plugins' and 'WordPRess development blog' areas I see '"Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 16515072) (tried to allocate 19456 bytes) in /home/xx/public_html/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php on line 2221"'

When I try to upload a plug-in I get the following error: '"Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 16777216) (tried to allocate 77824 bytes) in /home/xxx/public_html/wp-admin/includes/class-pclzip.php on line 2481"

So far, If I disable all of my plug-ins, the errors on the dashboard will go away. I have tried to reactivate them one by one, and the error always seems to come back with two or three plugins active, regardless of which one it is.

I have recently changed hosts, because my previous host was crashing periodically, I changed because the last host was crashing once every couple hours (Linode) - at least the new install does not crash so often, but I can't use my install very well, since it will not let me upload photos, etc.

Another thought is that it could possibly be my theme. It seems strange to me, but I have attached it.

Also, I had considered that there could be a mischievous script running somewhere. Remember this is a fresh installation of WPMU - the only thing that is not new is the blogs.dir and its content.

Please help.

"I'm trying to install buddypress but it messes with my main theme! "

You need to activate the buddypress theme, or buddypressify your main theme.

The BP forums are probably way more helpful.

You get that message if there's another WP install in a directory above your MU install.

Do this:
http://wpmututorials.com/installation2/installing-in-a-subfolder/

Are you creating the wp-config.php file and uploading it to the server yourself? If so, don't.

You need to get with your host then as they may have disallowed enduser's modifications to php.
