We have an issue with our FORCE SSL install of WPMU. When the system sends out email, like "go approve this comment" and the recipient clicks on the link, it is not an HTTP link. This non SSL link is passed to the login form in a get string like so: wp-login.php?redirect_to=http://www.blah.com/blahblah

As a result Wordpress throws an error on the login screen with a pink box that says "Login error: the username field is empty."

What's the best way to handle these non-SSL links when they are passed around for login redirects? Is there a wp-login.php configuration change that needs to take place?

thanks!

on clicking visit the blog... it searches http://mysite.edu/wordpress-mu2/blog_name, but cant find it... as no sub-directory named blog_name gets created...

There are a few plugins around (like Simple Dashboard) that allow you to customize the Dashboard. Try looking at some of those to see if you can make the Dashboard useful for your users.

Hi,

I would like to limit users that log into my website via WP. When they log in, they can look at their profile, but if they go to Dashboard, they can see how many comments, wordpress news and other stuff not related to the website, or stuff I don't want them to see. Is there any way to hide the Dashboard from the users?

Thanks,

I'm also interested in this login cookie integration with a third party application. Actually, in my case,

I just want the 'other' application whether he/she is logged in or not in the root wpmu install, if yes, then show the page, otherwise redirect to a landing error page. No need to retrieve or process user data from the WPMU users table. Simple as that.

This is most useful especially for like when I install a simple wiki (e.g., phpwiki) in a subdirectory but the contents (which is accessible through one php file only, index.php) is only available to logged in users of the root wordpress mu site.

Hello:

I've been having an issue with my WPMU install somewhat recently for no reason I can explain yet. Whenever I login to blog id 1, I get a bunch of garbled characters (see image here). However, if I add /wpmu-admin.php to the end of the URL, the admin dashboard then loads fine. At first, this issue was happening with any login to any MU blog, and I tracked it down to WP-Supercache, but I completely disabled it and the problem still exists upon admin login to blog id 1 only.

Anyone have any ideas? It's more of an inconvenience at this point as I have discovered the workaround, but I would like to get to the bottom of it. Thanks.

The login for is completely different. You'll only be able to get it "close enough" with the available plugins for custom login screens.

The register page picks up your theme. You will need to add a couple more styles (#content-wide for one) to your stylesheet to tweak it further.

Hi all,

How do I wrap my custom theme around the login/forget password/custom register forms. Also, I would like to style these to match my custom theme.

When I say custom register form...I will create my own register form that ask for specific information. So, part 2 of my questions, is how do I have the original register form redirect to my custom register form? I am trying to do all of this without touching any wordpress code, so when I upgrade nothing breaks.

Why can't I create a page with my custom header/sidebar/footer wrapped around the forms?

There got to be a way. I found a few ways to customize the wp-login.php form page, but I can't style everything...they keep getting overruled, plus I want my own custom header/sidebar/footer.

In additional to the redirect for the register form I would like to redirect the logout to point to my custom template with login form.

Last...how do I style the protected post forms. I've got the input field styled, but not the buttom.

I hope this makes sense.

"After configuration te screen says it's ok (unless the subdirectories, that may not work), and that i can login.
But I cannot login with admin, i don't know the password."

That status screen gives you the password as well.

If you look in the database, the one you see is an MD5 hash, so you can't just copy & paste it. you can, however, replace it and choose the drop down to MD5 it again. THEN that method works.

You should be able to do multiple installs in subfolders as you are doing it. Look for a .htaccess file in the root folder (the dev.domain.com/ level). If there is one there, remove it. You should only need the .htaccess files in each client subfolder.

Methinks you need the premium plugin: http://wpmututorials.com/simple-multi-site-plugin-e-book/ or install each WPMU in subdomains

Hey all,

I saw one post on this but no solution.

I'm doing a few web development sites for various clients, and so I have a dev domain set up.

Inside the dev domain is a directory for each indidivual clients.

i.e. dev.domain.com/client1/
dev.domain.com/client2/
etc

Inside each /client/ folder is a WPMU install, and they are all set to create new blogs as subdirectories.

The first one I started building worked.

When I am trying to log into another one to develop on it, I get stuck in a redirection loop. I.e., I log in , but I can't get to wp-admin page. I think it's because it's searching multiple directories or something and can't figure out where to go? I have no clue.

Everything was set up separately so I don't see why it shouldn't work.

Does this make sense? Has anyone found a way to fix this?
