Hello all,

I have set up my primary blog and several subdirectory blogs using WP MU. I'm using Thesis 1.6 as my theme for the primary blog as well as all the subdirectories that I create.

Instead of having to go in and manually change the theme each time I create a subdirectory blog, is there a way that I can set Thesis 1.6 to be the default theme?

Also, if this is possible, is there a way to save some of the various customizations I've made in the Thesis Options and Design Options and carry them over to the subdirectories as well?

No, the themes worked fine in previous versions too.

If the themes are in subfolders of subfolders under the themes folder (nested twice) then MU won't see them.

If the theme folder has too strict permissions, MU won't see them.

It's confusing that the text says "disable" while the button headings say "active/inactive." either "enable + enabled/disabled" or "activate + active/inactive," please! I prefer the first one, because active already has another meaning for themes.

actually i tried that also ..

the reason I came to the conclusion that regular Wordpress Themes won't be working for WPMU is because none of the themes were visible in

The issue is indeed your theme. Just go pick another one. The pages as horizontal tab is quite common.

You can use any regular WordPress theme. MU does not require a specific theme.

I am not very sure of the exact version of the WordpressMU i have been using.

dr-lokku.com/docblog is my site and I am trying to give a CMS or a Website kind of look to the site.Currently it is more like a BLOG.

I read the following
http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page

I applied the same , i was able to see the HOME page as explained in the above link but not the other pages ... though i cud see them in the sidebar as links.

I think it's the problem with the WPMU theme (RingBinder) which doesn't provide the option to display PAGES as TABS...

IF the above reasoning is correct ,
Is there any FREE WPMU themes which displays the PAGES as HORIZONTAL TABS ...

ELSE
what is the real issue that's causing me trouble ?

There was a plugin the the wpmudev site that let you set up specific plugins by site. It did it by having plugin folders named the same as the site domain, and then only including the correct folder for the site. Possibly something similar could be done with themes?

Here it is: http://wpmudev.org/project/site-based-mu-plugins

It's a little more complicated than that.

I have a multi-site setup.
I need different themes for each wpmu 'site.'

Example: Domain1.com & Domain2.com running on the same WordPress as sites (not blogs).
I have Theme1, Theme2, Theme3, Theme4, and PremiumTheme1.

Let's say that I want all themes, except for PremiumTheme1 to show up in the 'Site Admin' for Domain1.com, and I only want Theme1, Theme2, and PremiumTheme1 to be able to be visible on Domain2.com (both in themes.php and wpmu-themes.php).

I don't want Site Admins on Domain1.com to be able to even see the themes available to Domain2.com (and vice-versa).

I'd imagine a filter on the get_themes function would be able to do the trick but there isn't one and I don't want to modify the core.

EDIT: http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/12195

Uh, yeah. Real simple.

Go to Site Admin -> Themes. Disable the ones you don't want everyone to have.

Then go to Blogs -> Edit. Pick a blog to edit and on the right, you'll see the disabled themes with checkboxes. Check the ones you want to enable for that blog only.

I need to limit themes on my WordPress MU to specific themes for different MU sites.

Does anyone know how I can accomplish this?

Similar to http://wpmudev.org/project/site-based-mu-plugins except for with themes instead of plugins.

Make backups of everything first, including both databases.

Go to Site admin -> Blogs.
Find the blog you want to move.
Note the ID number of the blog. (it's at the beginning of the line)

Go into phpmyadmin and lo0ok at your WPMU database tables. Find the ones the match your blog ID. You specifically want wp_X_options. That houses all the blog's plugin option and usually the theme. Note any other plugin tables.

Export those tables.

If it's moving to a single install, you'll have the edit the .sql file to take out the _X on the table names.

On the new install, drop the old wp_options table and import yours in.

****

If this is too scary or confusing, you'd be better of just transferring over the theme & plugins files to the live site, and settign up the plugins & theme options again.
