Use the sitewide tags plugin to pull all the posts into one blog. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-sitewide-tags/ then use any regular wordpress random posts plugin to display those posts.

As far as I remember, it won't import the duplicates. you can edit the exported file before importing to just include the new posts, or look - there's a handy-dandy new plugin to just grab the posts you want. h

WPMU strips out all kinds of tags. You need a video plugin or youtube plugin to allow it to be in the posts. Which, as noted above, has been discussed a lot.

Hmm..... So I think I tracked down the source of my problem. Looks like the "Sideposts" plugin hides all posts that it shows on other parts of the site, which would explain why the blog thinks it has no posts
