How to set default theme (4 posts)

I work for a university, and I have a Wordpress MU installation I'm trying to get ready which will host research blogs for my department.
I want the blogs to have the same template as the rest of the site, so I created a Wordpress theme based on that template. It works fine, and so in the Site Admin, I made it the only active theme. However, when a new blog is created, it uses the Wordpress MU Default theme, and I have to manually change it each time.
How do I make my custom theme the default theme so that I don't have to manually change the theme for each new blog?

    Fantastic! Thanks a lot.
This plugin should, perhaps, be rolled into WPMU core.

Easy way without plugins is to just delete the default theme that comes with MU. Then rename your custom theme's folder to "default".
