Is this possible at all? I found a plugin for this over at joomla but it's crazy pricey. I'd rather convert the entire site to Wordpresss MU but it's not looking easy.

What do you mean by 'Wordpress MU + Joomla'?
Sharing users logins and passwords? Something else?
