Ok, So, I've be 'doing battle' with WPMU for a couple of weeks.
and I just can't get it installed..

The best I can get is as far as it saying that mod_rewrite isn't installed or is disabled..
If I run 'info.php', it shows me that the mod_rewrite module *IS* loaded...

i'm running ensim pro 4 on a redhat fedora core2 box, can anyone help? this is driving me loopy!

What is ensim pro 4? Have you tried the unstable version?

Ensim pro4 is a 'server management' package, it allows me to run several domains, each with their own 'virtual' machine, so if one crashes it doesn't take down everything else.
here's a link for more info on EnsimPro ;-

i've not tried the 'unstable' version, will it make much difference?

The unstable version is a very different beast. Give it a whirl, and take a look at my post about Cpanel.. ensim pro may modify file permissions without you knowing.
Try the unstable version, and if you get any error messages about writing .htacces then you may have to fight ensim over it!

    Hi,

Not sure if this progress, but it says its installed and I now get ;-

    Could Not Find Blog!
Searched for blog.myserver.com/wpmu/ in wordpress_mu::wp_blogs table. Is that right?
Please check that your database contains the following tables:
    wp_blogs
    wp_users
    wp_usermeta
    wp_site
    wp_sitemeta
    wp_sitecategories

Checked the database (MySQL) and these entries are there..
    Any suggestions?

Did you follow the instructions? Check for those tables ,and check the wp_blogs table for blog.myserver.com/wpmu/
Oh..sub directories don't work too well at the moment so try installing at blog.myserver.com/ instead if you can!

    Hi,

I checked those tables are there.
I can't see an enrty like that.
I can see entries for 'blog_id' and so on..
the 'domain' entry seems to empty, as does the 'path'.

i'll try reinstalling it into the root and see what happens.
    Cheers

Well I tried to install it into the root of the page, now I get ;-

result: error: Blog URL already taken.
To finish setting up your blog, please fill in the folling form and click Submit.

I've tried different blog names, and email addresses...

You should drop all the tables from the database before installing again.

    I am also getting:

result: error: Blog URL already taken.
To finish setting up your blog, please fill in the folling form and click Submit.

This is after a clean install, with a brand-new db from scratch.

I also get about a hundred of these:

    Creating Database Config File:
Warning: fopen(wp-inst/wp-config.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/ncstech/public_html/index.php on line 336

With different line numbers, until it finally says

    DONE

in green, then appears to be able to continue.

    Ah! What fun!

    Anyone?
