WordPress MU

I'm wondering if I could use WPMU for something a bit different. I need to develop a couple dozen domain names into web sites. I really don't want to install two dozen instances of WP. Can I use WPMU instead, create the multiple blogs, and then somehow have a domain name's nameserver attached to each blog? I don't want to "forward" the nameservers to each blog, they have to be set normally so each functions like it's own web site. I hope I explained theis properly.

If I can do this, then I'll only have to maintain one instance of software for upgrades and other maintenance, yet each domain name site will look like it's hosted on its own.

Can I do this?

You could probably have one domain point to the other. Intermising would probably require a rewrite of the code though as the code using the domain name in many spots and at the individual blog creation.

You could do individual redirects but you would have to set up each and every single one of them. That would be a pain.
