Can't access secondary blog admin panels (17 posts)

I'm running a fresh install of 2.7.1 and have been googling for the last 30 minutes with no luck of finding a resolution to this issue.

I can't access any blogs but the primary blogs. When you click "Backend" on any of the sites from the the main ACP it just goes to the blog front page and you can't access the admin control panel.

My URL does read "blog-url/wp-admin" but it shows the front page of the blog with a url to get to the site admin (as seen here). The site admin links simply refers you back to the primary acp. I'm unsure what could be causing this, any advice or debugging techniques would be great

The picture is what is shown when I try to access the admin panel for any of the sub blogs. Now you see why I am confused as to what is happening.

I have not modified the .htaccess though...

you shouldn't have to modify the htaccess if it was the one created upon install.

It was created upon installation, but I'm not sure what else could possibly be causing the problem.

What kind of setup do you have, subdirectories or subdomains?

Click on the link to the "hello world" post from the main blog - does it work?

Something is wrong with your mod_rewrite.

    Where are you hosted at?

Currently on a shared account at hostgator.

Could I reinstall MU to another directory and copy/paste it's htaccess to my working directory?

I don't think reinstalling it in another directory would help.

have you asked support? Tell them permalinks aren't working.

I don't see support anywhere on this site other than these forums...

I mean *HostGator* support. the issue is with your web account. They host your account.:)

Are you sure it's something wrong with my host? I'm moving to a dedicated server in 2-3 weeks and am ok to just run the site on the dedicated server. But I can't risk waiting that long to find out it was something else.

    Yes, it's the host.

I'll install it on the dedicated server and see how it works.

Andrea I've seen you offering help to many other threads here on the forums. I can tell you, I sure do appreciate it!
