    Hi,
I want to have default themes with Preset setting, i.e.
based on what kind of blog is being created,
    - there is either have a left or right sidebar or both
    - the front page is the 'about me' page or 'blog'.
and there is a default set of wdgets on the respective sides.

Basically all that is changing is the theme/template and based on the template everything else is set.

Is there any way I can do this.

    Thanks
    Manoj

With the Default Theme plugin along with the New Blog Defaults plugin, this maybe a possibility. I personally have not used the New Blog Defaults plugin, so I am not sure if it will give you what you need.

the New Blog Defaults plugin sets the default theme & blog options (for comments, settings), but not the widgets, nor the front page.

you'll probably need something coded for what you want. Anything I know of picks the same thing every time. this one could do it, but you need to figure out what to add. I think it has examples.
