I've just upgraded to the latest wpmu 2.8 and discovered the great feature to activate a plugin for all users.
Is Plugin COmmander still necessary ? How are you still using it on your wpmu sites ?

One of the features it has that we like is that I can have a plugin installed that cannot be activated by a user and it won't even show up in a user's list of available plugins. That gives us the ability to host a customized blog on the server with plugins that I as site-admin can activate for just that one custom blog that may not be appropriate for the general population.

The built-in sitewide activation has been buggy. I find PC still has finer-grained control.
So yeah, keep it around for a while. :)
