Not receiving Confirmation Emails (6 posts)

I have recently installed Wordpress MU and Buddypress.

Since then users trying to sign up with Aol and Comcast have not been able to receive any confirmation emails.

It says they are sending them an email, but it never comes. I looked this up online, and haven't found ANYTHING!

This is extremely important, since my website is made for the *user* and not as much the writer.

Check your PHP.INI under mail() settings and see what they are...

Does it work if you use a Googlemail address to sign up with?

Comcast are a bit rabid when it comes to blocking people they think are spammers.

I don't have access to modify my php.ini file, but underneath is what it shows. I am honestly not very good at php , I have a decent understanding of html, But can't seem to grasp these php books!

the 5th parameter to mail(), even in safe mode.

; overload(replace) single byte functions by mbstring functions.
; mail(), ereg(), etc are overloaded by mb_send_mail(), mb_ereg(),
; etc. Possible values are 0,1,2,4 or combination of them.
; For example, 7 for overload everything.
    ; 0: No overload
    ; 1: Overload mail() function
    ; 2: Overload str*() functions
    ; 4: Overload ereg*() functions
    ;mbstring.func_overload = 0

Let me know if its something in my php.ini file and I can request a change.

I haven't tried with googlemail, but it works with yahoo, hotmail, and gmail.

I have the same problem. Some addresses like gmail is accepted and many as yahoo or national domain like domain.it reporting an alert "Bad address" and doesn't works at all.
What is Comcast? is it an address verifying function? is it possible to deactivate or configure? and, in case, how?
Or, any idea how to solve?
MU 2.9.1.1 and BP 1.2 rc2 in a dedicate server, all the rest works perfectly.
    Thanks in advance for help
