prwoodI have a WPMU installation that is set up in a load balanced fashion. There are two fulfilment web servers, each with its own locally-hosted WPMU codebase. They both point to the same database server. We have a load balancing appliance that sends requests for HOST to HOST1 or HOST2. Our wp-admin is accessed via HOST. Everything is working fine with our initial installation.
My problem now is that I'm trying to upgrade from MU 2.7.1 to MU 2.8.4a. I upgraded the codebases, and then attempted to log in to HOST to use the Upgrade tool in Site Admin. When I started running the upgrade, it took a very long time, and eventually timed out with an error about "Could not open handle for fopen()". I did a bit of research and found mentions of configuring php.ini with: "allow_url_fopen = On". I checked my php.ini and this is set up.
Anybody have ideas as to what I could try next? We were successfully able to do the upgrade in our non-load-balanced development environment.
