WordPress MU

I have looked at all the plugins and threads out there, and only found one that probably fits what I am after - http://wpmudevorg.wordpress.com/project/Pick-a-Site - but it says it is no longer supported.

What I want is this:

I have a wpmu setup on domain (all hypothetical of course) http://ilovecars.tld

I will have users sign up at ilovecars.tld and once logged in, they get to choose a domain that fits their blog a little better than the generic "ilovecars". What I want is if in their site options panel, they were able to choose from more specific domains to run their sites off of.

For example Joe from joescorvette.ilovecars.tld could choose to pick the domain "ilovechevy.tld" in his options, which would in turn change his site URL to be joescorvette.ilovechevy.tld instead.

Is there any way of doing this in wpmu today? Thanks for anyone that might be able to shed any light on this subject...

The way the plugin above worked is that the users picked the domain he wanted during the signup process, not after.

haven't had time to look at possibly making a new version. (No, we didn't do that one :) )

Thanks Andrea - before/after, I don't think it matters to me one way or another. I took a look at his plugin, but I don't understand MU enough to fully understand what it's doing.
