I just did my upgrade to 2.8.5.2 and the "front page displays a static page" will not work. It only display the default index.php.
My _1_options database table does show "page_on_front" in the "option_name"
Is this just me?

It's working for me.

It works here, but it still has a bug with the navigation for themes that highlight the home page tab.
