Local Testing Server Setup Question - localhost.localdomain/example.com/ (3 posts)

I have a question regarding the setup of a local testing server. I want to make sure my local test server mirrors my live server setup as close as possible.

I've setup my local testing site at...
    localhost.localdomain/example.com/wp-admin/index.php

example.com is the main domain for the test site network. I want to run several other websites/blogs using subdomins such as testsite1.example.com, testsite2.example.com, etc.

Now, when I create a new blog in WPMU for my example.com site, it's created at testsite1.localhost.localdomain/example.com/

How can I set this up so that example.com is the domain being utilized instead of localhost.localdomain?

Should I create my local WPMU install on the root level of my XAMPP installation (directly in the /htdocs/ directory?

    Any assistance/direction is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Ryan

Hi Ryan, I'm needing the same solution for our setup. Did you ever figure out how to accomplish this?

    Thanks.

It's all done in your computer's hosts file.
