So any help would be great.

    - Don't understand what mu-plugins is for?

    - After installing a plugin like list-all in the plugins folder, and then clicking refresh, the site goes blank. Need to delete the plugin to get it the admin back. Do I need to do something special?

mu-plugins is only for plugins that need to be loaded into the core itself.

Usually if you read the instructions for the plugin it will tell you to either put it in mu-plugins or the actual plugins directory. For instance, the List-All plugin needs to be put in the mu-plugins directory (putting it in the other plugin directory will cause problems).

that was fast :) will try that. So another question on the same topic, kill two birds with one stone. As far as loading plugins (http://mu.wordpress.org/forums/topic.php?id=616&replies=17), they would then go into the plugins directory, since they only modify features on a per/blog/basis?

no problem. It really depends on the plugin as to where you put it. A good rule is that if a plugin needs to be put in the mu-plugins directory the instructions will make a note of it 95% of the time. If there is no mention of where the plugin should be put, it most likely should go in the "plugins" directory.

    Hope this helps :)

Amd just to note, when you put a plugin in the regualr plugins directory (usually thru ftp), go look at it in the plugins Menu, Click "activate". Don't refresh. :)
