WordPress MU

If users try to login to my wordpressmu 2.8.4a install from their blog's home page, they get this error: “Sorry, but the site administrators have disabled directory access in this WordPress install.”

So if user's blog is http://www.myinstall.com/robs_blog/ and he tries to log in, gets the error message noted above.

So he was to go to root, http://www.myinstall.com and login and then gets redirected to his blog.

I don't see any place to enable or disable directory access. Does anyone know how to correct this issue?

i would start by upgrading from 2.8.4 to WPMU 2.8.6 (2.9.x is also coming up very soon)

then run the wpmu-upgrade-site script in the "Site Admin"

after the site has been upgraded, i would then try to recreate the problem

You're using wp_dirauth, aren't you? It's somewhere in the plugin administration. That's not a built-in wordpress thing.
