    Hi all,

I have Wordpress MU installed with multiple sites running on it. I have the domain mapping plugin installed so I can use http://www.mydomainnames.com. But when I goto these sites the www. then disappears. I have been posting on other sites and bookmarking sites with a bit of SEO in mind and have been using the www.

Anyone in a similar situation? Is it right for me to be using the www. as I have the domain mapping plugin? I want to do whatever is best SEO wise.

    Thanks.

All your links should be the same (either with or without www). WPMU doesn't allow www, so everything should be done without it. As long as your 301 redirecting the www to non-www version (which is default MU behavior) you won't lose credit for those links. To be sure, just do a google search for "header redirect check" or something similar and I'm sure you'll find a tool that will check your headers when you type in that www version.

No offense but tacking on a sub-sub domain is improper form. You don;t go to http://www.www.google.com do you?

Using the www does not matter for SEO. Not one bit. google does not care, just as long as the links are consistent.

since you've already left links with the www in place, go into your server settings / cpanel / ask your host / and make all the www requests go to the non-www domain.

As per your suggestion I have set the rule in .htaccess that will redirect domainname.com request to http://www.domainname.com but as wordpress mu is removed www, it will end up in infinite loop.
Domain name with www or without www will not affect SEO, but I want my blogs working with www, so is there any way in wordpress to solve this problem?
