    Hi,
I have big trouble on my productive WPMU. Most users reports that their category premalinks not works and i don`t know what to do. I use new blog defaults plugin which allows to give defaut permalink to all blogs, i have updated the permalink structure, but it is not solved problem. Not all but most categories created by users are get to 404 page.
I am confused as there is no permalink settings page on the latest WPMU.
    My post permalink structure: /%monthnum%/%category%/%postname%/
My category and tag permalink structure: /topics/

    Please, help me

Updating the permalinks in the New Blog Defaults after a blog is created won't do anything to the existing blog. There's a bug (in core, I think) where permalinks occasionally get corrupt. You have to go into the back end of each blog and manually reset the permalinks. Just hit the submit button again - you don't have to change anything.

/wp-admin/options-permalink.php in whatever blog you're on. It's there, I just checked.

Should work for newly created blogs. I just tested it and it worked for me in a 2.9.1.1 install.

    Is there any other solution?

Please send us a link to your site.

it's quite possible it's working as intended, and you;re misunderstanding how it works.

    Hi.

Posting here cuz I have NOT THE SAME, but a similar problem.

I just upgrade my wpmu to version 2.9.1.1 by FTP, and now the Permalinks to the pages are broken! Just page's. Posts and other blogs access are OK.

Mainly, the pages of the root blog.

I've tried re-upgrading it, to correct corrupt files. But there still the problem.

    * And I also tried resubmitting the pages, or even create a New Page, and nothing worked..

    please, any help appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Did you try resaving the permalinks?

Turkel - when you're on the main blog, setting up New Blog Defaults, the slashes around the topic name are necessary. But, when a subblog actually renders, the slashes are no longer necessary. Even without New Blog Defaults, if you just go to wp-admin/options-permalink.php and try to put in a category or tag base with slashes, they'll be stripped out. That's by design.

Since your blog is another language, I can't seem to find any links on your main blog to look at sub-blogs. So, I can't really see what's going on with your sub blogs from looking at your main blog.

andrea_r - Yes, I tried resaving the permalink options page...

    My root blog is http://www.growroom.net/
    * some pages, to see what 'we' get:
    http://www.growroom.net/doacoes-2
    http://www.growroom.net/paginasdoacoes

Other blogs, managed by the same WPMU, are:
    http://growroom.net/direitodacannabis/
has a page that works: http://growroom.net/direitodacannabis/about
    http://growroom.net/stickers/
has a page that works: http://growroom.net/stickers/comprar

Now, I see, the problem is affecting the pages of the root blog Only.

Thanks again. And sorry - turkel - for posting my problem here.

    I'm still trying.

@fred_leao it's trying to do a blog lookup against the main blog's pages. That's why it enforces the /blog/ in the permalinks off the main blog. Did you take that out?

    andrea_r - I didn't!
In my permalinks config I just have /blog/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%

    Isn't it right ?

Someone else could have changed it. But I don't think so...

Thinking on downgrading to 2.8.lastone... lol..

No, that;s correct what you have - but it's not rendering those pages with the /blog/ in it on the front end. At least, not near as I could tell.
