This may sound lame, but seing that I only discovered Wordpress MU a week ago please excuse me.
If I wanted to have an MU Wordpress site, do I need the buddypress bits to make seperate members pages? or is this contained with MU?
If its MU can I also use the normal Wordpress themes to make it work?
I am not interested in the blog section just yet (as my ISP does not support wildcard).

BuddyPress adds the social profiles and the members page.

Yes, BUT if you're using BuddyPress, you need a Buddypress theme for that blog - the one where the profiles are stored.

you can install with subfolder blogs. It's on option on the install screen.
Or wait a week. then the latest BuddyPress version will owrk on single WordPress.
