I was reading in some threads that you can add fields to blogs and you can add fields to users.
I wanted to be able to make customized user pages, and wanted to add extra fields to the user pages as well as the blogs.
I wanted to know if I upgrade Wordress MU in the future, will these fields stay intact? Or if not, how do I make sure to keep my customizations good when an upgrade occurs?

Is this not a question worth answering in these forums? I am a new user, but this CMS upgrades every 6 weeks. Could someone validate these options are kept?
Standard procedure for these kinds of things is a plugin. Likely one alreayd exists for what you want.

you should be aware then that WPMU is merging with single WP in 3.0.
