Blog as sub-domain links not working (7 posts)

I was able to install at beargrassconsulting.com.

The link to create a blog does not work.
I can create a blog from the site admin but the link to the blog as a sub-domain goes to the wrong place.

My sites are hosted at GoDaddy. My hosting account is setup under http://www.phylliserck.net and that is where the sub-domain blog links are trying to go.

I created ahost record * that points to my dedicated IP.
I used the GoDaddy feature that says this domain is hosted here to handle the DNS.

I've read several threads here with others trying my same setup and not getting it working. Does anyone have this working at GoDaddy hosting multiple domains? Was there a trick to getting the ahost and DNS records set correctly?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    godaddy WPMU info: http://help.godaddy.com/article/5072

I believe part of the issue is your WPMU install is not the primary domain. That's why the sub-domain blogs are going to your other domain.

Yep those are the instructions I followed. I suspected it was related to the fact that I host muliple domains on one hosting account as I seen other posts from others trying to do this and having troubles.

I'll try reinstalling WPMU on my primary domain, phylliserck.net.

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

Hi again - I've moved it to my primary domain http://phylliserck.net but can't get the site to display.

I had to go through a couple of contortion menauvers to get the install to work because
    1) I have an existing site that I need to keep up and runing as I transition it to the new wordpress-mu site. So have an index.html that redirects my users to the old site and have a link for the MU site.

    2) GoDaddy seems to be doing something funky with default pages. Haven't figured out where I can define this myself in their user interface yet.

Anyway, I was able to get through a complete install of wordpress-mu and am able to login to the dashboard. But, I'm getting the array* warning in various places and when I visit the site I get a blank page. I'm thinking it has something to do with the theme.

    * example when I go to Appearance -> Themes

Warning: reset() [function.reset]: Passed variable is not an array or object in /home/content/p/h/y/phylliserck/html/wp-admin/themes.php on line 31

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/content/p/h/y/phylliserck/html/wp-admin/themes.php on line 32

Warning: reset() [function.reset]: Passed variable is not an array or object in /home/content/p/h/y/phylliserck/html/wp-admin/themes.php on line 37

Moving it to my primary domain fixed this problem.

    But, introduced a new problem

From your other thread, you have wpmu installed within a subdirectory. You will not be able to serve subdomains with the files in a subdirectory. They have to be in root.

You're serving index.html from the same root. that will interfere with how the blog pages are served.

Why not wait till 3.0 drops, then enable the network on your main install?
