I have a plethora of banned words set-up under the discussion option and low and behold, I will see that someone confirms their email address to post and it is loaded with alleged "banned" words... what's up with this?

The banned word list checks the content of a comment, not the email addresses.

I know but that is not happening, I have the comments set-up so that they will be published if one verifies their email address however, the "Banned Word List" is not filtering for banned words...

Every possible foul language style word or phrase I have listed in quotes yet, the filter does not seem to be working for the words still get through...

I am wondering why the filtered list is not begin applied not simply the email address or not...

    Does that make sense?

"Every possible foul language style word or phrase I have listed in quotes yet, "

Don't list them in quotes. They need to each be on a single line like this:

    banned word
    another
    dirty
    really not nice
    texas
