Can I setup wordpress so that whenever a user creates a blog (new subdomain) virtual host in httpd.conf is updated automatically, without me having to do it for each new user/blog?
Thanks in advance.

Why not just set up a wildcard alias *.yourdomain.com ?
httpd.conf is not to be updated by external scripts because of security risks... there is no other reason...
Does that mean that I have to manually edit httpd.conf every time a new blog is created (that is if I choose to use subdomains for blogs)?
Sorry, my mistake. * for ServerAlias solves it, it's been a while since I played with httpd.conf.
you have no need to edit any file, the script do the job for you, that's the beauty of MU... (and the pain of the coders)
