I believe it is the administrator account's email address you registered.
Take a look at the smtp plugin over at wpmudev.org and see if you can drop an address in there. I would think that would work...
OK, no matter, I know that someone will never discover the hidden secret behind the code generates this <wordpress@somedomain.tld>, but you can still enjoy with your service, I mean you will have changed default email to <some-email-you-chose@somedomain.tld>, so all the notifications will be sent from
<some-email-you-chose@somedomain.tld>. Argghhh
Ho, I was maddened about the same matter for 2 days and at last I discovered a plugin wrote by WordPress Plugin coder, called James Kelly.
You can download the plugin from here "http://www.jameskelly.org/wordpress-plugins/custom-login-and-registration-forms-plugin/" and once you fallow the instructions there, you will get enjoyed with your chosen email...
Thanks all!
Actually most of us have just hardcoded in the address into wp-includes/wpmu-functions.php. There was an issue way back when with it and that was the workaround.
If you hard code it you would have to do it again every time you upgrade to a new version of wordpress.
If you want to change the from address for all mails and notifications sent from your blog try this plugin:

I have a plugin that also does this job for WordPress. I would be interested to know if it works with WordPress Mu as well.
