When I click on the the Backend for any blog I am taken to the dashboard of that blog but there are no tabs to click on and it says Howdy . in the upper right instead of Howdy Administrator. If I try and login directly by using the Backend URL sent to admin, I am redirected to the admin blog backend and the tabs are gone and it says Howdy . in the upper right. This seems like a rewrite problem. Any clue how to fix it or what rule to look at? Thanks.
I believe you need to use wp-login.php to get to the backend and not just wp-admin like I often do for single user Wordpress.
jaseone,
Here is the backend URL I get when a new blog is created
http://username.blogs.wooster.edu/wp-login.php
However, putting in my admin username and password does not give me access to the admin functions on the blog as I think it should. I did do the modification that gets Imports and Invites working. Could something in those changes cause the problem? I know one of them messed with an auth feature and the other messed with rewrite rules.
More specific information.
Go to http://username.blogs.wooster.edu/wp-login.php
Enter username and password for system admin. Result: logged in to
http://blogs.wooster.edu/wp-admin/
and no tabs or links appear on the page for using any of the admin functions. The upper right corner also does not display the admin's display name.
This really seems like a rewrite problem. As I said, I changed two rewrite rules one to allow comments to work and one to allow registration (I believe). I also made a modification suggested here to allow Invites and Imports to work. I believe the Import modification removed an authorization check at some stage. Any suggestions for which is most likely the culprit?
