Problem with new blog creation in DB using latest nightly build -wpmu-2005-11-09 (21 posts)

I downloaded the latest nightly build: wpmu-2005-11-09 and everything seems to have installed correctly (eventually) - have the wildcard DNS working correctly and the Apache subdomains mapping correctly.

The problem that I seem to be having is that when a new blog is created the appropriate tables are NOT getting created. (As I understand it, there should be a set of tables created for each new user/blog).

The result of this is that when you try to visit a newly created site, the Wordpress needs to be installed message comes up:

"It doesn't look like you've installed WP yet. Try running install.php."

I'm wondering if this is a known issue with this build, if there is anything else that I'm missing, or if anyone else can create new blogs successfully with the current latest nightly build.

Any help would be much appreciated, have already installed / uninstalled both the domain and the package about 5 times tonight working on this.

    Thanks,

I agree. Have Exactly the same problem. Records are being created in the main wp_blogs table but no new enumarated tables are being created (actual blog tables). Permissions seem to be fine. I guess a problem with this specific build?

I'm having problems creating new blogs with this build too, though not using the dns setup but the example.com/user setup.

The setup seems to go fine (installed in http://server/wpmu/) yet after creating the first blog it says the new blog is reachable under http://server/wpmu/ (I assume it has to be something different? This doesn't work!)

No idea how to continue, please help :)

    Gidday:
I'm new to MU, using the same download, had the same issue. (Everything works, but trying to access new BLOGs pulls up DBase errors)

So, this [for me] begs the Q, where can you download previous versions?

    Cheers!

I just downloaded and copied in the latest nightly build (expands to wpmu-2005-11-10) and the problem still appears to be there (can click the link to create a new site, the user / blog gets registered, but no supporting new DB tables are created.)

Are there any additional steps that need to be taken to enable database creation for new blogs that I'm just missing?

I did run the Upgrade script under the Site Admin tab to see if that would help. It complained that the tables did not exist for the blogs that I've tried to create (which I've confirmed by checking the database directly.)

Tonight I'll look at the blog creation script to see if there is anything I can see that isn't getting called, unless if there are any other suggestions from the forum.

    Thanks,
    Gabriel

I would like to switch to WP MU, from standard WP, except maybe I should wait until a stable version is released. Any idea how long that might be?

Usually the unstable versions are in working order, unlike the 09-10/11 one.

Does anyone have a link to a working installable recent build zipfile by any chance? :)

    Absolu-bloody-utely!

SO far in my experience getting the right / working version of .htaccess going has been the major issue with WPMU.

I am facing same problem. New users can't signup for blogs, signup working fine and emails are send. But on going to url it says

    -------------
It doesn't look like you've installed WP yet. Try running install.php.
    -------------

How do i correct this ?

All existing blogs are working fine.

    netfreehost,

When I installed the build supplied by Inviz it solved this problem. Even though it's a slightly older build, it was great having everything working, new blogs gettting created, etc...

So I'd recommend switching to that version, unless anyone has gotten a recent nightly to build correctly?

Thanks, i will go back to old version if there is no other solution :)

When new version create new account, two tables are missing.

    referer_blacklist
    referer_visitLog

These tables are only available for admin a/c. New accounts signup missing these two tables, with old version these tables get created. It seems this create the problem.

Anyone know how to fix this ?
