    Hello.
I have the ldap plugin, which works great.
and the authentication/restricted blog plugin, which is also good.

I want to be able to restrict access to certain blogs based on certain attributes received from ldap. a person can be a student, faculty/staff, and alunmni. there are some blogs that only alunmni who belong to the computer science department should see. and not everybody can restrict their blog, only students.

its a big task that i have to complete. And I didnt want to do it without consulting the fourms first.

    so now for the questions:
beyond the two plugins i mention, can you suggest any other the may help me make mine?
how do i add roles such as, student and faculty to the user meta data?

and on a different note, i would like user to be able to customize the main page. is there any wordpress thing for this, or do i have to make it myself?

I would have thought that adding additional roles into WPMU was quite a complex task.

I suspect there wont be a plug in for it so you may well have to go and get your hands dirty cranking out some php code

thank you for giving me the truth.

I suspected that I would have to code it myself.

Either that or try to contract that out to a consultant. There's a list of them on the automattic.com website.
