I have one server
Dual Core Opteron 2.2 GHz CPU
2 GB RAM
2x HDD 320 GB SATA II
7200 RPM 16 MB Cache raid1 (250GB)
Loading processor about 50% of rush-hour traffic to 80%
Now I need two server already ... :(
Who have statistics?
How many servers, if you have around 100,000 blogs?
I think about 10-15 servers.
I am on a shared account :P
I will be moving to a dedicated host after I reach 2k+ blogs.

Now I know you don't have the object cache turned on. That's very high for an average. We run duel 2.8 and 3 Intels with HT and 4 gigs of memory as a standard server with our mu installs mixed in with our regular accounts and rarely do we see anything over 10%.
edit: Upping the memory may do you some good. Please see how much memory is being swapped to the hard drive. I bet it's a lot.
reedit: May also want to work on trying to config your mysql and apache servers for better load.

If I had a client doing that to one of my boxes and loading it like that...
They'd be shut down, no questions asked.

For 100K blogs? Nah, A beefy db server and two mid range web servers will be more than adequate.
It's really just a matter of properly configuring/tweaking your servers.
Thanks,
Andrew
Do remember that wp.com is using single CPU processor boxes with only a half gig of memory per box. At least what's what the bid request was last time it went out.
