I'm currently developing a small blog network for a client. I have been using Wordpress for months, but I had never used WPMU.
I installed WPMU on my server (Dreamhost) for development purposes. Everything went well. After a couple of email to support, I was even able to set up virtual sub-domains for new blogs.
But when I tried to installed WPMU on one of my client's development servers (running Ubuntu Server Edition), emails were no send. I tried everything I knew, some plugins, but noting worked.
Out of despair, I installed WPMU on my computer (running MacOS 10.4) - and everything worked fine as well.
So, my main question is: what's WPMU default for email sending? I doubt it's SMTP, 'cause my computor is running and SMTP server. If it's sendmail, shouldn't an Ubuntu installation already have it running? I'm pretty much running out of ideas.
Anyways, another question for everyone using WPMU for running small-medium sized networks, what's the best option for sendmail email? Is SMTP more robust than sendmail?
