I'd like put blogs.dir directory on another remote server to save bandwidth. For users upload the easyway is use nfs.
Is there any plugin or hacks to make file address look something as http://storage.mydomain.tld/blogs.dir/UID/..... ?

We haven't found one but somehow it's doable as that's how wp.com does theirs.

There's a md5 fix that divided up your list of blogs.dirs' subdirectories. Would that help? You could then move those subdirectories off of the server. We do that for future expansion.

I don't get it actually why you are not able to do this ?

You can mount a remote drive using NFS on a directory if you want, so that can be mounted on blogs.dir.

The MD5 fix is more for 32K of directories that can cause problems because Linux can't have more than 32K of directories in directory.

The MD5 fix is in my opinion also much better for security tho :)

Sounds like simple redirection in .htaccess should work.
