now I am probably going to go Doh! after someone tells me the solution to this, maybe it is just too early in the morning and i need sleep!
In Posts you can define tags. Can you do the same for Pages? it there a plugin or hack that will allow me to define tags on pages, so i can use the a site wide rss feed to display pages based on tag value.

thank you very much, that one did the job perfectly. dropped it in the mu-plugins dir and did not have to change anything.
Although in the documentation it mentions having to change your theme to show tags. However I am not going to change 80 odd themes.
But it serves it purpose as now i will be able to use the tage to draw into a site wide feed. :)
