Wp-Super Cache crashed my site (14 posts)

Soon after I upgraded to 1.5.1 yesterday, I installed Donncha's Sp Super Cache. All went well and it seemed to be caching lots of pages.

Alas, when I woke up today and tried to open any blog at http://blogpeoria.com, all I got was a white screen and a lovely message at the bottom of my browser saying "waiting.:

I could access my admin pages, which loaded immediately.

So, I did what any WPMu user ought to do in this situation: I dumped the last plugin that was uploaded to mu-plugins.

My blogs started loading like normal.

    Darn it.

I really need a solution for the server load issues that my host is complaining about.

i don't think supercache is the solution to your quandry. you need to figure out which plugin is slamming you so hard. Are you running a stats plugin like firestats? check your slow mysql queries log. that'll tell you what going on.

i had similar issues wit supercache. the issue is with your host. are you running SC with compression on? that often causes many issue, also. try half cache.

Question: I still have the Anarchy Media Player plugin installed in mu-plugins. I'd like to dump it, but won't that crash any existing embedded YouTube video?

Nope, it won't strip out the embed code unless someone re-edits the post.

If you dump the AMP plugin the embedded videos will disappear and in their place will be the "shortcode" the plugin uses.

rename the plugin from anarchy_media.php to anarchy_media.txt for a quick second and you will find out :)

If configured incorrectly, WP-Super-Cache gives out a empty page for your site. The "incorrect configuration" could be:
    1. Your host settings. In my case it doesn't work on my local host.
    2. Misplaced files. Super cache require to be able to put 2 files in the wp-content folder, outside the plugin folder, which are advanced-cache.php and wp-cache-config.php.

For more information how to properly install super cache you should read this:

So far it's working fine for both of my blog and another site in one installation instance.

If my info is still not helpful, you may try the official instruction page: http://ocaoimh.ie/wp-super-cache/, good luck :)

BTW, your link has a comma (,) attached to it, so it's not actively working.

Huh. Probably trent this time. ;)

I was thinking of a different situation with embedded video code, not shortcode.
