To save my bandwidth, I decided that I would not permit users to upload images to my box. I want them to embed links to their images from whatever image service they use (Flikr, Picasa, Zoomr etc).

Care to share any lessons learned in implementing this strategy?

I would like to cache thumbnails only in case of lag or disaster. Any particular plugin y'all would recommend to allow a user to log in to their specific flikr/picasa account (instead of the 'always on'/'use my account' set up under Settings)? I guess that's the shotgun approach, install plugins for popular services...urrgh.

Restricting users to pasting HTML code to the link is easier on the maintenance but I'm curious whats down that garden path...

Oh man, how about users who can't properly paste code under the Code tab? :D

    pretty much.

Back on topic, I did have a flickr plugin for my uses, but that wound up with more issues eventually. With users familiar with photo-hosting services, they'll get it. Other users need more hand-holding and clear multi-step directions.

Hmm, ok, so I needn't pencil in a forehead-striking epiphany...

    Thanks!
