I now have a pot-file available for download for those of you who need to translate WPMU to your local language.

    http://www.studinski.dk/da_DK.rar

It is a Danish translation, but it includes the original text-strings in English.

    Hello!
I tried to import the pot file from the normal wordpress.
And it works good for me.
From 1215 strings are 110 marked fuzzy and 21 not translated.
The fuzzy strings should be correct manualy.

    Here a short tutorial:
Download your language pot file for wordpress
    Start poedit
    Edit the preferences (File->preferences->(tab)parsers
    Select php and click edit
Change the inputfields to the following (each line is one field)
    PHP
    *.php
    xgettext --output=%o %K --language=php %F
    --keyword=%k
    %f

Source code charset leave blank and commit all with OK

Open the pot file from wordpress.

Open the catalog settings (tab: paths)
On "Base Path" type in the file location from your wpmu

    e.g: C:\wpmu\wpmu-2006-04-23\

In the paths section type in the same without the last slash (on click to get focus and a sencond click to edit a line)

    e.g. C:\wpmu\wpmu-2006-04-23

    Change to tab "keywords"
create one entry with "__" (2 underline)
    and one entry with "_e"

    commit with ok

At last execute Update from Sources.(Catalog->Update from sources)

    Kind Regards

Is their an official pot-file with just the English text? I probably can work with the Danish version a bit but there are things which I am not able to translate because of it. But anything is better than nothing of course.

I think this is what you are looking for:

    http://svn.automattic.com/wordpress-i18n/pot/trunk/wordpress.pot

Here's the page on working with the pot file in case you need it:

    Hope this helps,

Thanks a lot, but that file seems to be the regular WordPress version. It has less items than the DK-version. What I need is the MU-version.

Well, you can make your own pot-file with poEdit, which will extract all the text-strings from MU and lets you translate them too ;)

Maybe someone should stick up the extracted pot file somewhere.

I made a new version from Studinski's translation to danish. It had a lot of blogbar notices in it, wasn't quite up to date with WPMU1.0 and had around 200 fuzzy translations I had to sort out.

    Download .po and .mo here:

    http://www.connecta.dk/da_DK.zip

Where do we collect these translations? On the Codex?

For danish googlers: Dansk oversættelse af Wordpress MU

Thanks. I need a Dutch translation. If there's none I will probably create on myself based on the da_DK version. Thanks for this.

I think there should be a better way to organize these translations. Anyone ideas?

    Hi dears

    I started using WPMU but:

It does not use the .mo file for my language.

It is set to use it in wp-config.php and the .mo file is placed in wp-includes/languages

    Any idea?

tohave: Are you sure you set it correctly? Remember not to put the .mo extension in your wp-config.

Now, 1.0 version of MU is released. Does anyone know when will the official translation file for WP MU be prepared?

a new danish translation (for wpmu 1.3.3) - complete, but not quality-checked - can be fetched from http://laugesen.org/wordpress/2008/01/09/wpmu-13-pa-dansk/
    (.po and .mo available)

Can anyone generate a pot file out of Wordpress MU 1.5 RC1? I tried poedit, but It seems I cannot do it.

Ignore my dumb request above. There is a great tutorial on creating .pot/.po files at http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Skippy/Creating_POT_Files . It was very straightforward.
