If I want the blog to be in a subdirectory domain.com/blog/ , should I install WPMU in root or /blog/ and how to configure the Domain Mapping plugin?

And, how do I redirect domain.com index to domain.com/blog/ ?

The reason I want to do this is, I am using MU for my own sites.

When the site is new, it will be using MU.

If any site gets established, I want the choice to export it to it's own WP installation.

So keeping the blog to it's own folder will enable me to have a static homepage and other folders like directory and forums.

I installed MU in root and I set my blogs permalinks to /blog/postname

so I will not lose my links when I export them to their own site and in the blog subdirectory.

I am wondering if this is the recommended method.

Or, should I install MU in /blog/. If I go this method and use domain mapping, the sites are still accessible in domain.com/blog/

But the problem is I don't know what's the good way to redirect domain.com to domain.com/blog/ using MU.

Fake an index page with a page template called "blog".

I'm actually doing the reverse - I've currently got a site set up at domain.com/blog/ and I'm going to move it to a WPMU install. The above is how I'm going to make sure all the backlinks to /blog/ still work.

I am only using MU for my own blogs.

I want the blog for each site to be in the /blog/ folder.

Is it better for me to install MU in root or in /blog/?
