Download/Install/Activate theme (8 posts)

    Hi Everyone,

I am very new to WPMU.
I did manage to install and get everything up and running. I have fumbled around until I can make most things work without bothering everyone here. I actually have 2 questions.

    1. Are there any basic written help files that I have somehow missed?
    2. I have installed the Farm 100 pack (meaning it is uploaded via ftp to the server and is in the wp-content/themes folder.

I have created a blog (test for now) with a user (only want them to be an Author) and now want to select a theme.

I do not find the themes from the Farm 100 pack anywhere (that I can find at least) in the dashboard.

I noticed the downloads for WPMU apprear to be different files than those used in the regular WP (which I also have running on a different server).

I did install a few plugins in MU but they went into a directory called mu-plugins (also different files from what I have used with WP) ... I can not seem to find them to activate so I assume (from what I have read) they are hidden and simply working behind the scenes.

Could my problem be there is no mu-themes and I have installed the pack in the wrong place?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

    Thank you in advance.

Site Admin -> Themes, then "activate".

    Hi Andrea,

Thank you but that did not work since that pack does not show up at all in the list.

I have collected others individually and they all work so I will go with those.:)

Maybe you have uploaded some themes in sub-folder of wp-content/themes?

Each theme has to be right in wp-content/themes, having something like wp-content/themes/pack1/somethemes... won't work.

CHeck permission s on the folders of the ones that don't show up. They have to be 755.

Sounds to me like you've missed a couple of steps.

Having uploaded directly to your directory via FTP, did you

    1. Unpack the file
    2. Transfer the subdirectories up to your main Themes directory

The file is originally transferred in a compressed format.
