Multiple blogs under sub-blog? (5 posts)

    Hey everyone,

Apologies if I'm not posting in the right area, and if this has already been answered, but I did search and couldn't find anything too relevant.

Anyway, here is what I'd like to happen:

Have a National blog (That is the main blog) at domain.com/wpmu/

Then, I would like to have a sub-blog for each state (In Australia), so I would have domain.com/wpmu/Victoria/, domain.com/wpmu/nsw., etc

Is it possible to then, have sub-sub blogs, so that each State can then have multiple blogs, so it would be domain.com/wpmu/victoria/blog1, /wpmu/victoria/blog2, while I could also have /wpmu/nsw/blog1, etc.

Would it be possible to have all these blogs accessible from the one Admin login? And to have the blog tabs (In admin menu) to be drop-down, for each State?

I hope this makes enough sense, otherwise I'll try to clarify.

    Thanks.

WPMU has kinda '1-tier only' structure. This means you have a main blog and all other blogs (users' blogs) are kinda 'sub-blogs'.
Nothing else has been invented yet :)

However, there're several ideas that may work for you.

    1. WPMU Enterprise can manage several installations of WPMU. See http://wpmu.org/wpmu-enterprise/

    2. There're several plugins that may help you. Blog Topics (http://wpmudevorg.wordpress.com/project/Blog-Topics), Blog Categories (http://wpmudevorg.wordpress.com/project/Blog-categories)
Play around with Multi-Site Manager (http://wpmudevorg.wordpress.com/project/Multi-Site-Manager) and maybe Pick a Site (http://wpmudevorg.wordpress.com/project/Pick-a-Site).

    3. Dunno if it plays well with WPMU, but check http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/flashblog/

    That's it I can think of :)

I'd lean towards categorizing the blogs.

VentureMaker - Thank you for the suggestions. I tried downloading WPMU Enterprise, but the link doesn't seem to work, and can't find it hosted elsewhere. I'll keep searching though.

I'm also going to try out Blog Categories, I found another plugin that wasn't listed, that seems good as well.

    This is it: http://certiopensource.blogspot.com/2007/05/wordpress-mu-blog-categories-plugin.html

    Thanks again. :)
