post_url using attachment template? (2 posts)

Since upgrading to wpmu 2.7, I've noticed the post_url feature has changed. It used to create a permalink including the attachment in the 'attachment' template. Instead it does not use the permalink structure, using the http://blogname.domain.com/?attachment_id=1025 format.

According to the WP Codex Using Image and File Attachments docs...

Depending on what options you select from the aforementioned popup "menu" (and we use this term loosely, because it doesn't function like a typical popup menu, as you will see below), the inserted item may or may not make use of your attachment.php template page. If the appropriate options are selected from the popup menu, as discussed below, then a visitor who clicks on the item in the blog post will be taken to the page styled by the attachment.php template file if such a file exists in the theme you are using.

NOTE: Emphasis was *not* added--that's how it is in the docs.

In my experience, clicking the post_url button added a link to the file via an 'attachment' page (no sidebar).

What can I do to continue using the PERMALINK structure /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/%post_id%/? I've tried WPMU 2.7 and 2.7.1.

It appears the problem is more related to the Post_URL not populating with the permalink consistently.

Sometimes it'll properly insert the permalink link:

    http://blogname.domain.com/2009/05/03/permalink-to-post/20491/name-of-image/

And sometimes it inserts the link like this:

    http://blogname.domain.com/?attachment_id=1234

Any ideas on how I can fix this?
