WWW. redirecting to root on one blog, not the other. Huh? (5 posts)

    Hi There,

After installing 2.7 I'm having a strange issue. My main blog is located on the root directory while my second blog is located in a subfolder.

Prior to 2.7, if you typed http://www.restorationarlington.org/get-involved it would redirect you to http://restorationarlington.org/get-invovlved

However, now any instances of www. redirect you to the root directory. *However*, on http://restorationarlington.org/sermons (the second install) using www. works like it should -- it just redirects to the non-www. version of that page/post.

Any suggestions? I *did* install the wildcard subdomain on my server (WebFaction), but to no avail.

I had significant problems with wp-config.php when installing the new lines of code, but I removed all those and played with that and the issue is still unresolved.

I searched around the forums and couldn't find an example of this. Thanks for your help!

    Josh

Well, WPMU is not meant to use www at all.
Did you use www when you installed WPMU?

If you need www redirected to non-www the best way is to create http://www.domain.com as alias to domain.com

This wasn't a problem before the upgrade. My web host automatically redirects everything, and I contacted them and reviewed the .htaccess and it's apparently good to go.

Why is this working for the secondary blog but not the first? It's definitely something in 2.7, but what?

Actually, I think they're trying to roll in www support in 2.7.x. It may still be buggy.

I tested something. I created a third blog that wasn't located at the root directory, and sure enough it worked just fine. If I entered http://www.restorationarlington.org/testing/post-name it would automatically redirect to http://restorationarlington.org/testing/post-name

So, I decided to swap my main blog that resides on '/' and use the '/testing/' blog as the new '/' to see what happened. The minute I switched '/testing/' to '/' it could no longer handle WWW. It immediately redirects all pages back to the root.

    Does that help?
