Hi everyone and thank you for your time.

So thus far, I've noticed that when I change the primary domain's theme it changes the theme of each new blog that is setup. I've noticed there isn't much of a fix for this but is there at least a way (in settings or...) to have the main site just a sign up page and the rest of the new blogs just blogs with allowable themes for them?

How are you changing the theme on the main blog?

Well I can make code edits...but it seems the primary URL blog is the same code as the new members blogs...

that doesn't happen for the actual wordpress.com site...

Got a link so I can see what you mean?

You don't need to make code edits to change themes. each member gets the "default" them.. by default. Some of the text changes, based on what blog it is.

Under Site Admin -> Themes is where you allow themes.

Might want to read up at bit over at http://wpmututorials.com

well i make code edits cause i can - i'd rather make my own template...but that's not the point...the point is that if i change my theme, the themes for my subdomains change too...

that's the problem...is there a fix for this that anyone knows about?

"the point is that if i change my theme, the themes for my subdomains change too..."

And I'm trying to find out exactly what you mean, because you're not being very clear.

If you are making changes in the code of the theme, then all blogs using that them will change too. Is that the issue?

If so, then make a copy of the theme you are changing and assign that to the main blog only. (Site Admin ->Themes, disable sitewide, then Edit Blog #1, and check the ticky box to enable one theme for that blog)
