This is very odd. I noticed it today, but it5 might be the result of the upgrade to WPMu two nights ago.

when I open my main blog, http://blogpeoria.com

All the links on the resulting page have been pointed to a corresponding page on a member blog: http://peoriawatch.blogpeoria.com

For example, {url]http://blogpeoria.com/2009/07/10/changes-to-the-terms-of-service/ instead points to http://peoriawatch.blogpeoria.com/2009/07/10/changes-to-the-terms-of-service/

This is the link I see when I hover my mouse over these links.

When I first notices this, the front pager blog had switched to the theme the Peoria Watch blog was using. And the front page was renamed to the name of the Peoria Watch blog.

Also, on my admin pages, the "WPMu 2.8.1 is available" message is still showing.

Also, all the mu-plugins have been deactivated by renaming the folder.

Well, it's not a database problem. We've restored to a backed up version and the issue. It's not a theme issue either.,

OK, the site started working properly, then after 30 minutes it started up all over again.

Take a look at http://blogpeoria.com .

It has assumed the theme and site name of a different blog that I operate, http://americanguesser.blogpeoria.com

This happened AFTER I deleted the blog that was "causing" the problems, http://peoriawatch.blogpeoria.com

I am convinced this is a problem in the settings somewhere that is not going away with a database restore.

I think it's caused somehow by the WPMu 2.8.1 upgrade.

UPDATE: No sooner do I write this, then the problem stopped and the theme is normal again. I am going to assume the problem is NOT permenently fixed, because no one did anything to fix it.

And now some member blogs have switched to the theme I am using on the blogpeoria homepage:

http://pundit.blogpeoria.com/
http://gegs.blogpeoria.com/

Seriously, this is annoying. Any help would be much appreciated

I don't think there were any database changes with the upgrade. Did you downgrade the *files* back to 2.7.1?

Also, turn off all the plugins, even mu-plugins, then wait and see if it still does anything.

No. I will downgrade the files to 2.7.1 ....

And we did the plugins thing.

But what do we do about the borked settings? Reinstall the database again?

Dunno yet. One step at a time.

All is well.

Andrea_r is the bomb.

Reinstalling 2.7.1 THEN doing a database reinstall did the trick.

I will forgo 2.8.1 until what I assume are some bugs worked out.

Thanks guys!

Now ... time to get some sleep.
