Hi I have WPMU installed not at web root but at /public_html/wpmu. Im on Hostgator and created a * subdomain pointing to /public_html but when I goto the blog blogname.mydomain.com, the page loads but the url is blogname.mydomain.com/wpmu... How do i get rid of the trailing subdirectory?
the easiest way would be to install wpmu in public_html.

I have a normal wordpress installation in public_html. Is it possible to install wpmu together with the usual wordpress? I don't want to replace the current wordpress with mu...
You could export the single wp install's posts and then import them into the main blog of the wpmu install, that way the transition would be seamless and you would only have one codebase to maintain.

Is it possible to only let certain templates/plugins to be available to selected blogs? This is one of the main reason I want to keep the wp and wpmu blogs apart

and there may be joomla on /public_html too... not sure if there will be a conflict between joomla and wpmu residing both at /public_html...
