i wwas thinking about putting a search on the main home to search the whole site and all other blogs
I gave up on that wasn't working (lack of php skills)
so thought about google search for it
    but i would have to supply a address's e.g
    host.com
    me.host.com
    you.host.com
    etc etc
    up to 4 domains
where this would work with just 4 users .. not going to work with any more

    any ideas?

Take a look at my site's home page - I have a search box there. Try searching for 'green' or 'politics' and you'll see that it searches all subdomains too.

I set this up using an Adsense account with Google. So you'll also earn revenue from this too. Let me know if you want more info.

Sign up for an Adsense account on the Google site. Then you can choose the option to create an 'Adsense for Search'. The wizard on the site is fairly straight-forward once you get there.

    like yours does
what did you put for the diffrent addresses to search?

google gives me 4 boxs to fill
    i fill with
    domain.com

how did you get it to seach all the other sub domains?

I didn't do anything special - I just filled out the form and entered my main site's domain as the site search URL. A key thing with this is that the content on your site's blogs has to be indexed by Google before they start showing up in the search results.

Also remember that Google may be a few days behind and may not see every site on your install.

Easy version to what you want to do:

    - widgetize your main blog's theme.
    - add Google widget ,included in widget plugin, to sidebar by simple drang 'n drop.
    - save changes ;)

Voila! It should search your whole domain then.
