MU install not working - other installed site suddenly went down! (5 posts)

I did: Installed WordPress MU on our server to allow users to create their own blogs - put it in its own directory with its own database - this installation is still not working, btw...however...

I saw: a well established site we had built (http://nonviolence4equality.org/) suddenly gave the error: "trouble establishing a database connection" - I made sure the site was correctly pointing to its own (original) database and now it is acting as if we have to start all over with the site - this site has been up for several months with a ton of information and followers...we desperately need to recover this site!

I expected: I expected WP MU to install as a separate site on our server without interrupting any other WP installations we have on our server...some how, this did not happen. Now, neither site works.

Additional URL: for grins, the MU installation is here: http://www.soulforce.org/qblog

It's looping and does not allow me to even begin creating a page...

    HELP, please...

Did you put them in different virtual hosts in Apache?

    Hi SteveAtty -

Can you explain this? I'm using CPanel - and I'm not much of a sys admin. If you can break it down for me in dummy terms, I can provide that info....

    Thanks so much,

    Lauri

I've no idea how to do it in Cpanel but you need to make sure that the two domains have separate directory structures on your server and that apache knows that the two domains have different document roots.

Did you do the second one as an add-on domain in cPanel?
Have you asked support at your webhost for any help? Because for it to do that, it's not really MU, more a server problem.
