www redirect issue on new installation (5 posts)

    Hi

I am new to MU but not wordpress.

I have installed MU successfully but am getting an error when trying to access the www version of the site:

A file permissions error has occurred. Please check the permissions on the script and the directory it is in and try again.

Now I am guessing this is a chmod issue? Anyone know which file / folder may be causing this issue and what setting it should be? I understand MU works differently in redirecting the www url.

    Cheers
    Greg

What happens if you try the non-www version of the site?

    check your wildcard settings.

You should, in one way or another, have a * that = (host).

I suggest you use web trace tools to see if the www. resolves the sames as the non www.

Hopefully this will help, please post results.

    Hi Eric

Yes they were resolving to the same IP but it was a DNS issue, I transferred the nameservers back to my domain host and the issue went away. Looks like it was the wildcard dns record.

    Cheers
