wp-signup.php is not working (22 posts)

I have a new install of wpmu with budypress via simplescripts.

The wp-signup.php is simply rendering a blank page.

When I tried to manually add a new member (another of my own email addresses), the email that came had only "%s" as the link.

Not sure what's wrong. I'm still searching the forum but not finding anything yet.

Actually, I am not using 2.7.1, but the latest version as of today. That wasn't listed as an option.

    Well. Ok.

I simply switched from the Buddypress default theme to the wordpress default (it's all about testing and learning right now!) and now it is working fine. That tells me that the problem is probably actually with the Buddypress default theme.

So the problem is at least partly solved!

    :-)

Did simplescripts update the buddypress plugin too? Go to the Plugins menu and it'll tell you if the BP plugin needs to be updated.

I found the same problem when I am upgrading from 2.8.2 to 2.8.4 - cannot sign up, it goes/redirects to admin page. This "wp-signup.php" link is blank: white page. How can I fix it?

A blank white page always means an error. Find your error logs and read them.

If you upgraded MU and didn't upgrade BP to the latest, that's probably a large portion of the problem right there.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare bp_activity_install() (previously declared in /home/user/public_html/mywebsite/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-activity.php:19) in /home/user/public_html/mywebsite/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-activity.php on line 52

what does it mean? how to fix? Please help.

If you're in cpanel, there's a "Logs" section with an Error logs icon.

Blank pages mean errors. Turn on php error logging, if its not already turned on and re-create the error and check your logs. Where your PHP erorr logs are and how you view them will depend on your hosting company.

I think Andrea and I need macros so we can post this sort of thing with the press of a couple of keys.

Why are you replacing the signup page?

"I think Andrea and I need macros so we can post this sort of thing with the press of a couple of keys. "

I honestly have no idea why I haven't copy-pasted the text in my handy text file of MU forum links on my desktop. (yes, that's how I get posted so fast.)

But someone DID tell me of a macro they use in their browser that will insert the same answer every time you tell it to.

@experts585 - please, check your error logs. A blank page means there is an error. Turn off all your plugins and see if the signup page comes back.

So you've got an old version of WPMU and dropped a file from the new version into it?

Blank screen means PHP error as Andrea and I have both said.

    Check your error logs.

yes @SteveAtty you got my problem

ok i check my error log. but why after page replacing the page give me blank page, and after i again replace the defult page,

Why don't you upgrade to the latest version, mixing code versions is not a good idea because you've no idea if the new version uses different functions or parameters to the old version, and if it does then that will give you the white screen.

I've installed WPMU 2.8.5.2 and buddypress 1.1.2. All appeared to install and work ok until I try to use signup. Although the process seems to work up to the avatar upload and crop no email is sent out and my hsphere log records the following error

Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use 'LimitInternalRecursion' to increase the limit if necessary. Use 'LogLevel debug' to get a backtrace., referer: http://planchristmas.co.uk/register

    Any help greatly appreciated.
